Indian steel giant Tata Steel said that its Jamshedpur integrated work will start to run full production in this quarter. 

The new capacity will increased to 9.7 million tpy from currnet 6 million tpy. 

The expansion was mainly in the flat products segment, which now accounts for about 6.5 million typ of the overall installed capacity. 

The company also has had to discontinue chromite mining operations at Sukinda as its mining lease there has expired. 

It is said that Tata Steel had halted mining operations at Sukinda earlier this month and was looking to secure a temporary working permission from the Indian ministry of environment and forests until the lease is renewed.
