WSU's Koch Arena Gets New HD LED Video Display

When the Shockers return to Charles Koch Arena this Fall, student-athletes, coaches, and fans will be welcomed by new video displays throughout the arena, including a new high-definition, widescreen center hung video board and LED displays over the mezzanine entrances.

“Wichita State is excited to partner with Daktronics on this project,” said Director of Athletics Eric Sexton. “After a very successful 2012-13 athletic and academic season, this will be an exciting addition to Charles Koch Arena, home of Devlin Court. We believe this will enhance the fan experience for our volleyball and basketball supporters and heighten the home-crowd advantage.”

The focal point of the new installation – the four-sided centerhung display configuration – will feature four LED video displays, each measuring 12 feet high by 15 feet wide and using a tight 6 millimeter line spacing. These displays can show one large image to highlight live video and instant replays, but can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements. The center hung will also include LED ring displays above and below the main videoboard.

In addition, a total of 18 auxiliary displays will also be installed throughout the arena above the entrances to the seating bowl. These displays, along with the ring displays, will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information.

A custom audio system, which will be integrated with the video and scoring system, will also be added to the arena. The system provides full-range sound reproduction, delivers clear and intelligible speech, and ultimately ensures a powerful audio experience for the fans.

Installation has already begun for the new video displays and is expected to be completed in August.

Anthony James Partners, one of the leading audio/video consultants in the marketplace, provided expertise on this project, assisting with design, procurement, and technology integration.
